{"id":526,"date":"2013-03-27T10:31:33","date_gmt":"2013-03-27T15:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hackspherelabs.com\/?p=526"},"modified":"2013-03-27T10:47:30","modified_gmt":"2013-03-27T15:47:30","slug":"sensationalism-and-control-times-news-bullshit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hackspherelabs.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/27\/sensationalism-and-control-times-news-bullshit\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensationalism and Control &#8211; Times News Bullshit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was checking the news this morning and I came across this article:\u00a0 https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/03\/27\/technology\/internet\/online-dispute-becomes-internet-snarling-attack.html?pagewanted=all&amp;_r=0<\/p>\n<p>WTF?<\/p>\n<p>It has to do with a DDOS attack that spawns from Cyberbunker being added to a blacklist.\u00a0 Cyberbunker DDOS&#8217;s the hell outta some DNS servers if the Times News article is anywhere close.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a quote from the article:\u00a0 &#8220;The attacks are becoming increasingly powerful, and computer security experts worry that if they continue to escalate people may not be able to reach basic Internet services, like e-mail and online banking.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The guys that write this shit suck.\u00a0 People are pulled into it too.\u00a0 Computer security experts are &#8216;worried&#8217;.\u00a0 About fucking what?\u00a0 Email and online banking?\u00a0 Netflix?\u00a0 Who cares if you cant access your shitty Netflix.\u00a0 OMG I NEED TO KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY I HAVE IN THE BANK NOW.\u00a0 I WONDER IF GMA GOT MY EMAIL ABOUT THOSE COOKIES?\u00a0 First world problems.<\/p>\n<p>Another quote:\u00a0 \u201cThese things are essentially like nuclear bombs,\u201d said Matthew Prince, chief executive of CloudFlare. \u201cIt\u2019s so easy to cause so much damage.\u00a0 Matthew Prince.\u00a0 Matthew fucking Prince&#8230;using 1950s sensationalism related to nuclear weapons to describe a fucking DDOS attack.\u00a0 This guy is a real winner.\u00a0 Its more like a giant traffic jam.\u00a0 Deal with it.\u00a0 The prince of sensationalism and is just glad to get his company in the headlines.\u00a0 You should sign up for his services.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called distributed denial of service, or DDoS, attacks have reached previously unknown magnitudes, growing to a data stream of 300 billion bits per second.<\/p>\n<p>OMG.\u00a0 BILLION?!!?!\u00a0 Thats like a lot right?<\/p>\n<p>I like how John Markoff (The genius that wrote this glorious piece) finds a quote from Dan Kaminsky and adds it in:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe No. 1 rule of the Internet is that it has to work,\u201d said Dan Kaminsky, a security researcher who years ago pointed out the inherent vulnerabilities of the Domain Name System. \u201cYou can\u2019t stop a DNS flood by shutting down those servers because those machines have to be open and public by default.
